Opened up the NXT box and am trying it out. So far I've built the standard bot and just finished the shooterbot. It's very cool. Fairly intuitive and easy to program.
The big trick is going to designing the bot and building it efficiently.

Hello world!
Today, we met with the group of kids that are going to make up Adams Robotics team.
We had a great response today. We had 15 students and about 10 parent, plus a couple of mentors from the high school program, Including Mr. Simmons, the robotics teacher.
We talked, introduced the program and played a video located on the www.usrobotics.org site having to do with the FLL.
Mr. Simmons spoke on the opportunities that the kids who stick with it through high school have the potential to enjoy, noting that this year the FIRST program will give 14 million in scholarships. That's awesome.
We talked about the definition of a robot, and about what makes one thing a robot and what makes something not a robot.
Finally we played a game called robot.
Fun.
Great job Adams. It's going to be fun.
